Inter Vlan is used to communicate between two different vlan's

Steps to Create Intervlan:

* Vlan database

* Assigning Vlan to ports

* Trunk between Switch to Router

* Encapsulation

Step 1: Vlan Database:

 

Switch#

Switch#enable

Switch#vlan database

Switch(vlan)#vlan 10 name cisco

VLAN 10 added:

Name: cisco

Switch(vlan)#vlan 20 name MS

VLAN 20 added:

Name: MS

Switch(vlan)#exit

APPLY completed.

Exiting....

 

Step 2: Adding Ports to Corresponding Vlan

 

Switch#configure terminal

Switch(config)#interface fastethernet 0/1

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)#switchport access vlan 10

Switch(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/2

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)#switchport access vlan 10

Switch(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/3

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)#switchport access vlan 20

Switch(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/4

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access

Switch(config-if)#switchport access vlan 20

 

Step 3: Trunk between Switch to Router

 

Switch(config-if)#interface fastethernet 0/5

Switch(config-if)#switchport mode trunk

Switch(config-if)#switchport trunk allow vlan all

Switch(config-if)#exit

 

Step 4: Encapsulation on Router

 

Router>enable

Router#config t

Router(config)#interface fastEthernet 0/0

Router(config-if)#no shutdown

Router(config-if)#interface fastEthernet 0/0.1

Router(config-subif)#encapsulation dot1Q 10

Router(config-subif)#ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0

Router(config-subif)#interface fastEthernet 0/0.2

Router(config-subif)#encapsulation dot1Q 20

Router(config-subif)#ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0

Router(config-subif)#exit

Vlan 10 network 192.168.10.0

Vlan 20 network 192.168.20.0

To test ----> ping between two different networks.
